Memorial Day Weekend- aka Final Weekend in VA

It is hard to believe but the time to actual move to Georgia was finally here!  We spent it enjoying our friends- what a perfect way to celebrate our time in VA!
Addie and I went to see her friend in Cinderella!
Addie and her BFF Ava
Lots of time was spent at the pool- James is, and will forever be, our favorite lifeguard/swim coach/ friend!

Our good friends, the Muncy's had us over for dinner- we had a blast!

And there were lots of other good-byes with our amazing neighbors and Community Group!

Our life was abundantly blessed with friends in Virginia- we look forward to making friendships in Georgia.  We are thankful for our Virginia friendships that will continue thanks to the joys of technology- and hope lots of people come to visit!

Six!

Somehow Annalise is now SIX!  She is SUPER excited and totally "gets" how special a birthday can be!  We celebrated all week and she loved every single second of it!
Almost Birthday Lunch at Panda Express with MarMar and PopPop
Special Birthday Shirt!
Party- decorate your own cupcakes!
Shivering at the pool ON her Birthday!
Dinner at McDonalds- her choice...
Dessert at Sweet Frog

Annalise- you are sweet, spunky, emotional, and have a huge heart! You have learned so much this year- you read, you count, you add, you draw and color, you laugh, you cry, you love all things sparkly and are still obsessed with Hello Kitty!  We love the spunk you add to our family!!

Operation Georgia Peach

I have the best friends- hands-down!  Al told me that I would need to change out of my school clothes on Friday- that was it!  I had no idea what was planned- maybe a special date night??  Nope!  My friends swooped in and whisked me away for an evening of fun!  Thank you friends!!

Welcome, Midlo

We welcomed Chloe-Midlo (going by mostly Midlo these days), into our home!  The timing wasn't what we envisioned, but when I got the email at school about a family who desperate needed a new home for their almost 2yr old, house-trained, good-with-kids, beagle, I knew she was meant to be ours!  She loves the kids and keeps us on our toes- little toys are slowly disappearing as she chews on anything left on the floor.  She was also really hurt by our neighbors dog right before we moved- the Great Dane thought she was a chew toy...  Thankfully she is now fine and fully up to mischief!

Spring Fling Fun

Mr. Goose (our children and youth leader) planned a food fight and included the little kids- they were SO excited and are stills talking about it!

We welcomed a new nephew into the family in mid-April- Daniel!!  We celebrated by eating ice cream- his parents approved!!

We also celebrated excellent report cards by having Donuts!

Adeline and Alden have been participating in Running Club all year- so we were all excited when the Run the Rocks Race arrived!  Thankfully Al was not stuck in California this year and could run with the kiddos without having to be awake all night driving home!  I even walked it- pushing the double stroller!  The rain, and the fact that the school had been vandalized the night before, the race was lots of fun!

Annalise loves Miss Theresa- who carried her a good part of the 5K!
Alden finished in the top of his age group- so proud!

Virginia Beach- Last Leg of Spring Break 2015

After Jamestown, and a brief stop at the outlets, we headed to Virginia Beach!  Originally the forecast had not been one favorable of a stop at the beach, but as the day progressed, the promised thunderstorm was pushed back later and later!  So, we sailed by the hotel (the perk of a husband who travels a lot!), grabbed some pizza from a local Little Caesars, and headed straight for the beach!  As we walked onto the beach, we ran into some old friends, and spent some time watching the kiddos play in the waves, the adults catching up!  It was wonderful!
Team Work- pizza and toys!
SO excited to be at the beach!!

After playing for over 2 hours in the frigid water, building many sand castles, and consuming lots of pizza, we headed to the hotel.  We dropped off our things in a huge room and headed for the pool!  There they swam for almost an hour!
Cutest luggage ever!
Living on the edge- putting their feet in the hot tub!
We ended the evening by watching some of Annie- how they could keep their eyes open after such a long and action-packed day, I do not know!

They were all up and ready to go back the next morning!  We grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel- along with an entire bus-worth of a dance troupe from North Carolina Central University....
Working and not fighting- I'll take it!

This was the highlight for Addie- there were about 5-6 dolphins swimming down the coast!  There were actually jumping at one point!

Putting to use the skills they learned from Jamestown....

The only way to leave the beach is with ice-cream in your hands- or a milkshake or a frosted lemonade...
The kids did great- they played for over 3 hours on the beach, rode for over 2 hours home, happily, helped unload and vacuum the van!  It has been an amazing Spring Break!  One filled with Virginia memories and history!  We are abundently blessed!

Jamestown Adventure

Our final Spring Break Adventure was to Jamestown!  We were trying to squeeze in all the fun Virginia things we could...  Both Adeline and Alden had studied some about Jamestown and they were excited to check it out.  Al had to travel to California for work- so off the 5 of us went!
Checking out the canoes the indians made
An Indian Home- they were undecided if they would like to live in it...
Learning how the indians turned animals bones into weapons, utensils, and sewing needles!
They LOVED exploring the boats- all 3 of them!
As we are exploring a boat, I hear my name- and it's my old college room mate and her family!  She graciously offered to take a picture for us!
The boys liked these bunk beds...
See, the girls don't need their own rooms!
Team Work to fire a cannon...
Looking fierce in their armor
They all got to hold a musket- and loved it!

Outside the Settlement
The highlight of the day- the free ferry across the James....
It was such a fun day- and it wasn't over!  I surprised them with a trip to Virginia Beach!!
