Weekends Full of Blessings!

Weekends- they are pretty special around here for several reasons.  First of all- Al has been traveling a lot lately, and the fact that he is home on the weekend makes it extra-special!  And we are pretty busy during the week, so we find it important to actually relax and enjoy each other on the weekends.  Taking time to be together, and create memories- that's important!

Reading- lots of that happens all the time, but even more happens on the weekends!  It's so neat to see Addie helping Alden nurture his love of books and to see him start to really "get" reading!
Creating a "nest" of blankets to read books online for RazKids

A professor of Al's in seminary introduced us to a tradition called Sleigh Gifts.  Every Sunday of Advent, we do the Biblical reading and discuss the importance of it.  Then we exchange a small and simple gift that we have purchased for someone.  Usually during the week Al and are able to take the kids out, one-on-one to get a gift for the other parent and sibling.  It's neat to see the kids thinking about each other all week and the scripture that we have read.
SO neat that Addie can now do our scripture reading!

Usually the car ride home on Friday is super quiet- someone or sometimes, both, fall asleep....  It's hard learning so much all week long!
My little book worm!  She had been nodding off before I snapped this...

And he's down for the count!

This weekend Al didn't get home until midnight Saturday- so Friday night we rented a movie and watched it in our pj's while eating dinner in the living room followed by a ton of popcorn!  The kids loved it- and I loved all the snuggles and giggles!

What else do we do on the weekend?  Grocery shop!  Getting to shop by myself is a luxury- but having my two adorable helpers is also pretty special!  They love getting to push the little buggies- and are pretty good at not crashing into anyone!

After naps and a birthday party, they helped me decorate a bunch of cookies- some went to neighbors, some went to my school, and some will go to Daddy's office.  More will be made and go to their schools!

We even were able to squeeze in dinner and visit with some good friends!

Sunday we went to church and then came home- and watched Christmas movies, had hot chocolate, put together puzzles, had hair styled, and spent lots and lots of time together- it was marvelous!

We even got a dance show given by a Super-Police-Santa....

Weekends like these are so special- time with family!  It helps us to remember how blessed we are.

Happy BIRTH Day!!

December 4th- what a special day!!  This time, seven years before, I was woken up from a deep sleep at 4am by Addie breaking my water!  It was my first clue that she would be a morning person!  Flash forward to now- she woke-up happy and excited for her day full of extra-special "stuff"!

First up- Presents!  Gifts from family!
How did she get to be SEVEN?!?

Her response to the question, "How does being seven feel?"

So thankful to be so blessed

Next up- a family tradition to have Dunkin Donuts for breakfast!  I spy a Mommy!

Lunch- because of the time of my planning, I was able to pick-up her requested Happy Meal and meet her for lunch!  She requested her BFF, Jaida to eat with us on the stage- it's a big deal to eat on the stage!  I also brought Caroline- it was her first visit to school and she enjoyed meeting all of Addie's classmates.

Alden's lunch starts as Addie's ends- so we got to spend a few min with him, too!

Once we got home from school, all our dear neighbor friends came over and celebrated!  We sang, decorated cupcake and even opened a few gifts!  It was nice to have so many friends to surround Addie and share in her day!

It's been an amazing seven years- and we can't wait to see what God has instore for her!

Addie's 7th Birthday Lua!

December 1st we had a birthday party for Addie- somehow she has managed to turn SEVEN!  She has been talking about this party since the day after her birthday party LAST year!  Thankfully she gave me a heads-up as Hawaiian Lua stuff isn't exactly easy to find this time of the year!  I was able to shop all year and score some great deals!  She decided to have a school friend party at home, and then on her actual birthday, invite all the neighbor kids over for cake and icecream.

She had a great time- and the little girls who came all had a ball!  They all brought their favorite doll, wore swimsuits, lais, grass skirts, decorated beach buckets, colored Hawaiian pages, played Pin The Flower in the Girl's Hair, made lais for their dolls, ate pizza and fruit, and then decorated and ate beach-themed cupcakes!  It was a blast- and I am so thankful for my good friends who helped out!

Addie had a blast- and I am so honored that God gave her to us and that we were able to share her with her friends on this special day!
Cupcakes!  Blue water with fish and starfish, sand with a beach towl and umbrella!

Beautiful girls coloring!

Grass skirt and lai modeling

Playing Pin the Flower in the Hair- they all decorated their own flower- and Addie drew it out of a pirate hat for them to pin on the girl!

Go Ella!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Fresh out of the car from our trip to NY, we started decorating for Christmas!  Usually I like to wait until after Addie's birthday- but this year she requested that the house be decorated FOR her birthday party!  It was so fun to see the kids really get into it!  They remembered different decorations, where we put different elements, etc.  So neat to see them get so excited!
Helping Al put up the tree!

Ho Ho Ho!!

Working decorating the tree- they climbed on the couch and got a pretty balanced tree!

Beautiful mantlepiece!

Early Birthday Shopping Trip

Addie's birthday is just around the corner- and this year, all she asked for was American Girl Doll stuff- a doll, some outfits, and a backpack.  Luckily for her, she got some money and a gift certificate AND we would be driving right by it on our way home from NY!  She was SO excited to stop and pick out some stuff- and some other things were bought for Christmas!  She is one blessed little girl- and I am thankful that she still loves her dolls- I want to keep her sweet for as long as I can!
Excited to SHOP!!

SO happy to have her Caroline doll and the doll backpack!
