The twins have had oodles of doctors appointments, tests, and procedures. They have been beyond sweet, compliant, and cooperative. It is amazing how helpful the medical community has been- mostly it has been our amazing pediatrician who has talked to the right people to get us in with specialists quickly. We are happy to get answers to the twins medical puzzle and be able to start putting pieces together so we can best create a plan to help them become the best that they can be!
These pictures are out of order- I'm sorry!
First up- MRIs- we learned a lot from these! Both Asher and Annalise were amazing during the wait, were sedated without issues, were champs during the 30min MRI, and woke-up happy! Hours later, we found out the results- Both twins were cleared of FASD (we were shocked), and Asher was referred to a neurologist as his scan was really odd. (more on that later!)

She slept for 2hours and then was happy as a lark!
The very next day, we were able to get an appointment with a neurologist- our Pediatrician is amazing! We found out that Asher has a genetic disability called septo-optic displaysia. In a nutshell his brain has 3 issues; his pituitary gland is damaged (why he is so small and constantly thirsty); his optic nerves are underdeveloped (explains his eye issues); and parts of his brain are underdeveloped (explains his developmental and physical delays). We are researching more and are meeting with an endocrinologist to explore the best ways/medicines to help Asher. This is actually a good diagnosis- and he appears to not be too affected by the disorder!

So traumatic- he had his blood pressure taken!
|
Love the waiting room!
Next up, Annalise had surgery! She had her adenoids removed and had a tube put in her right ear. We hope that the tube helps her poor ear- but are prepared to have her be referred to a specialist who can reconstruct her ear drum. During her surgery she was a champ- we are so proud of her!

Both twins also meet with a pediatric opthomologist! Annalise's vision is helped with glasses and Asher will need to have his eyes remeasured in a month!

Brave boy!
At the dentist they were champs! They both had perfect teeth- yay!
They also had physicals with our Pediatrician- they were champs as they were poked, prodded, had 7 vials of blood taken, and had to be quiet as we answered hundred of questions.
We are excited to be putting together the puzzle pieces- and are continued to be blown away by how amazing these 2 little ones are!
