Swim Meet

This was our first "home" swim meet with Asher and Annalise, so once they woke-up from their afternoon naps, we headed there to cheer them on!  I tried to explain to the twins that they could NOT swim, and that idea did not go over very well...  Annalise as ok once she noticed it was a competition, but Asher was determined to jump in and swim WITH Adeline and Alden!  When we walked onto the pool deck to cheer for Adeline and Alden, Asher would attempt to strip down and jump in...  By the end of cheering for the 3rd race, he seemed to be ok with it.  Over all, it went well, Adeline and Alden did really well, and I would like to think it was because Asher and Annalise were there to cheer them on!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was yet another snow day- and a day where Annalise was scheduled for surgery!  Once she left with Al, I made a yummy breakfast for the 3 other kids.  After naps, we gave the kids some Valentine gifts- Asher and Annalise were SO excited and Alden and Alden were, too....  It was a fun, relaxing, treat-filled, day!
Pink heart-shaped pancakes!
Getting to eat IN the living room- poor Annalise is having surgery at this point...
All recovered from her surgery, and decked out in her jewels, ready to decorate cookies!
So focused- love that she still sticks out her tongue..
Putting on sprinkles- he did a great job!
So excited to open his box of chocolates!
Attempting to eat her chocolate- missing 2 front teeth and a bottom tooth made it a challenge- but she was up for it!
She quickly picked-up on what to do with her chocolate
Yum!!

Medical Update

The twins have had oodles of doctors appointments, tests, and procedures.  They have been beyond sweet, compliant, and cooperative.  It is amazing how helpful the medical community has been- mostly it has been our amazing pediatrician who has talked to the right people to get us in with specialists quickly.  We are happy to get answers to the twins medical puzzle and be able to start putting pieces together so we can best create a plan to help them become the best that they can be!

These pictures are out of order- I'm sorry!

First up- MRIs- we learned a lot from these!  Both Asher and Annalise were amazing during the wait, were sedated without issues, were champs during the 30min MRI, and woke-up happy!  Hours later, we found out the results- Both twins were cleared of FASD (we were shocked), and Asher was referred to a neurologist as his scan was really odd. (more on that later!)

Modeling Mom's glasses...
Happy to drink as she wakes up!
Asher all sedated and being moved to the table that will be put in the MRI
Ready to just sleep
All done and so thankful for a drink!
He ate like a horse and watched 101 Dalmatians and then napped
She slept for 2hours and then was happy as a lark!

The very next day, we were able to get an appointment with a neurologist- our Pediatrician is amazing!  We found out that Asher has a genetic disability called septo-optic displaysia.  In a nutshell his brain has 3 issues; his pituitary gland is damaged (why he is so small and constantly thirsty); his optic nerves are underdeveloped (explains his eye issues); and parts of his brain are underdeveloped (explains his developmental and physical delays).  We are researching more and are meeting with an endocrinologist to explore the best ways/medicines to help Asher. This is actually a good diagnosis- and he appears to not be too affected by the disorder!
So traumatic- he had his blood pressure taken!
Love the waiting room!
Next up, Annalise had surgery!  She had her adenoids removed and had a tube put in her right ear.  We hope that the tube helps her poor ear- but are prepared to have her be referred to a specialist who can reconstruct her ear drum.  During her surgery she was a champ- we are so proud of her!

Adorable!
Loving her popsicle as she wakes up

Both twins also meet with a pediatric opthomologist!  Annalise's vision is helped with glasses and Asher will need to have his eyes remeasured in a month!
good girl!
Brave boy!
At the dentist they were champs!  They both had perfect teeth- yay!

They also had physicals with our Pediatrician- they were champs as they were poked, prodded, had 7 vials of blood taken, and had to be quiet as we answered hundred of questions.

We are excited to be putting together the puzzle pieces- and are continued to be blown away by how amazing these 2 little ones are!

Snow Day- again

To the twins, we must seem to be the biggest liars.  We told them in Lithuania that we did not get much snow in Virginia.  God heard that has once again proven that HE is in charge.  We have had SO much snow it's beyond ridiculous- ridiculous for Virginia, normal for say, Michigan....

Last night snow was forecast and it actually started falling fast and thick, right on schedule.  Movie night was requested- so homemade popcorn and The Little Mermaid happened! {Side Note- The Little Mermaid is a movie we saw at the Baby House in Lithuania- and the twins have loved watching it in English!}

I made Alden's breakfast of choice, monkey bread, turkey bacon, eggs and bananas.  Yum!  After bumming around in our PJs, our good friends the Ws came over and enjoyed sledding down our hill even though this was a super wet snow- and it started sleeting/freezing rain.  Everyone had fun- sleds and a kayak turned sled!  Hot chocolate was perfect afterwards and then the kids enjoyed puzzles, Just Dance, and playing.

It's been nice to have some downtime!
Yum!
Eating
It was pretty quiet as everyone ate- that means it was a huge hit!
Ready to sled!

SO happy!
Asher preferred to sweep than to sled

A Little Learning

We have been busy learning around here- or at least attempting to!  Homework time has been a bit more of a challenge with our new and improved family.  We are slowly working the kinks out- and while we do that, everyone is at least incredibly cute!

Working hard
Sneaking in some play time with Addie's new game while she works
Addie is amazing!  She is doing her homework and overseeing Asher's cutting session
Writing down his Scholastic book wish list- love that he appears to be a lefty!
Popcorn and The Little Mermaid- it was snowing and school was canceled!
How better to read than inside not 1 laundry basket but TWO!?
