Rehoboth Fun

Saturday was gorgeous! We had a yard sale in the morning, and then Al had to work late, so after naps, the kids and I headed to Rehoboth Beach for some fun. I was a little skeptical about going to the beach by myself with the kids, but it was SO beautiful, I had to give it a try! We had SO much fun and the kids were perfect- making it an easy trip and something that we will certainly be doing MORE often!!

Here is a little video of the kids enjoying one of their favorite aspects of Rehoboth Beach- FunLand!! The rides are .30 each (yes, 30 cents!) so they get to choose several each time we go!! On a side note- this is Alden's 2nd time on the rides- the 1st time was a few weeks ago and I didn't have my camera. I love how different the kids are- Addie is a crazy driver while Alden is a bit more cool and relaxed. This video captures 1 time at FunLand, but there will be MANY more like it to come!!

Addie's Preschool Moving-Up Day

Today was Addie's last day of preschool. She has been VERY excited about today as we were all invited for The Big Ceremony! Once we starting walking into the school- she changed her mind- and wanted to be Velcro-Daughter. I sat right behind her and you can see from the pics the few moments I was not within reach.... She finally warmed up to the crowded room and all the extra people by the time the singing was over and it was time for the snacks.... She has learned SO much this year- I am thankful to the Grandparents who made these 4 months of preschool possible!! Thank you!!

Wearing her special Busy Bee button- the whole theme of the Moving-Up Ceremony was about bees- so cute!

The blackboard- awwww! It is surrounded by all the kids' names- there are 4 classes total at this school.

This sums-up her mood- but isn't her Bee Bonnet cute?

Her class "performing"

NOT enjoying everyone clapping for her as she gets her "diploma", guess theater isn't in her future....

Now, back at her seat, she's happy with her diploma...

The Easter Bunny even made an appearance (the kids swap Bunny Baskets with each other, thus the need for the EB to deliver them....). She would only go up if I went with her....

Allie- Addie's BFF!

The best part- all the food! I love how all the siblings are included and wedged in!

Addie and her favorite teacher, Miss Judy

Sitting on the steps- happy with her Bunny Basket!

Memorial Day

We had a fantastic Memorial Day- full of food, fun and friends! Al had to work mornings, but that allowed the kids and I to have fun together, and then spend the afternoons with our good friends James, April, Grayson and Avery. Fun was had by all! On Monday, we went to a picnic at a church we have been visiting- but sadly, I did not get any pictures of that.... Here ARE the pics that I do have!!

The boys chow down before hitting the pool....

Addie enjoys her snack, too!

The water was COLD but they still got their tootsies in!

Checking out a bug swimming along

Alden LOVED Grayson's bike

Waiting for the burgers to be ready- my cutie-pie!

Making quick work of the chocolate cake!

Being cute as he not only eats but models his chocolate cake

This boy LOVES food and anything that holds food....

Postage Stamp Re-do

Our yard is so small, I don't think I should call it a yard- so I will call it our Postage Stamp.
After living here a year, and unsuccessfully getting grass to grow in our PS, we consulted a professional- a friend who maintains the greens on a well-known golf course and has a degree from a well-known college in horticulture. He recommended that we remove the few clumps of grass that we could get to grow as that would probably die soon. Due to the 1.5 hrs of sunlight our PS gets per day, all the rain, and no air movement, he highly recommended putting down a weed barrier, mulch or stone it all, and then plant a few plants that need lots of moisture, no sun and lots of protection from the elements.
What we began with...

All grass removed and weed barrier down...
Rocks down- SO much better! Yes, there is dog-poo already down- it was cleaned after this pic. At least that answers the question if Kierke minds!! Flowers will come in the next few weeks....

Welcome, Cuckoo Bird

We have a new addition to our family that Addie has affectionately named, Cuckoo Bird. She's a beaut!

My Sweet Little Delinquent

I know it's strange to call your own son a "sweet little delinquent" but that is the phrase that comes to mind after his haircut this evening....

Before:

After:

I accidentally grabbed the wrong blade for the buzzer. Good thing his hair grows crazy fast during the summer!!

Fun in the Sun

The weather is finally sunny, Al has 2 days off, and I don't have to babysit- it all adds up to some family fun in the sun!

Monday after teaching my LAST class!! Cape Henlopen State Park

We climbed this tower- yes, the kids walked the ENTIRE 120 steps to the top!

What a view!

Happy daughter and Daddy

Cheerful son and Mommy

Taking a stroll together

Tuesday after preschool- Salisbury Zoo

Checking out the flamingos- 2min after looking at them, it was announced that the zoo would be closing in 15 min! Al was running errands in Salisbury, so it's a good thing that the park next to the zoo stays open until sundown!

Enjoying the swings at the zoo

Checking out the sandbox

Swinging together- my 2 little monkeys!
